Billy the Mime is an avid photo collector and professional weirdo. He has amazed and disturbed audiences across the country with his offbeat performances. The New York Times called Billy the Mime’s live show “politically incorrect” and “shockingly unsentimental.”

| Photographs can record the detail of the world as we see it. But they can also enable us to present the world as we imagine it. The juried exhibition Wonderland: Photographic Fantasies features photos that envision the realms of dreams, the fantasies, and surreal world of the imagination. Juror Blue Mitchell is an independent publisher, curator, and photographer. Based in Portland, Oregon, he has been involved with many faucets of the photographic arts. Mitchell received his BFA from Oregon College of Arts & Crafts, where he studied photography. Since then, he has curated and juried several photography exhibitions, created an online photography gallery (platestopixels.com), and launched a new fine art photography magazine called Diffusion.
For Wonderland, Blue selected forty photographs for exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery in July, 2011.

There can more to a superb portrait than a superb likeness of an individual a the testimony to their soul can be visioned way beyond the eyes. How much can you tell us about a person with just one image? Their life story? Perhaps. How did you show the idiosyncrasies, quirks, that make your sitters both physically and emotionally, individuals? We can’t wait to fill our gallery walls with a newly visioned kind of face - portrait as character and caricature.
